Hermit Crabs Exoskeletons Hello Mr. I purchased 6 blue leg hermit crabs about a month ago, and today found what I believe to be two molted exoskeletons and everything I've read refers to them as such, but always prefaced with 'probably'. A quick count of moving shells re-affirmed that there were no dead crabs, however, is there any solid way to tell the difference between an exoskeleton and a dead crab asides from this slow method? Thanks for your help, Josh
Crabs occupy many marine niches

Coenobita clypeatus are a great terrestrial hermit crab included in warm and you can sub-exotic portion. Living in moist components this terrestrial hermit crab try good nocturnal scavenger that uses a great gastropod layer to protect their flaccid system bits. These animals are extremely social, foraging and you will traveling into the organizations. While you are C. clypeatus is extremely social the new varieties is known to be aggressive into the other hermit crabs in their classification to help you inexpensive better fitting shells. C. clypeatus is also cannibalistic and certainly will consume insecure molting crabs. Because the yellow pincher hermit crab are terrestrial it should come back towards the water to help you spawn and you can launch it's larvae on water.
